Square Enix has updated their North American Final Fantasy XIII site with a little teaser - an anagram," A Henchmen Inventor Tent Unto". Since we were too busy playing Uncharted 2 to figure it out, we left the dirty work up to FinalFantasy-XIII.net, who discovered it could be rearranged to "Anouncement Nov. Thirteenth". That's one week from today, three days after the release of Modern Warfare 2, or a month and a day from the release of Uncharted 2 - pick your landmark.
Square could have just about anything up their sleeves at this point. Just yesterday, Squenix CEO Yoichi Wada announced the game could hit before the end of the fiscal year, perhaps they'll announce a release date? FF13 producer Yashinori Kitase also said that they might come out with a demo for the West as well. Special editions, hardware bundles, pre-order bonuses, soft drink tie ups, realistically, the sky is the limit when it comes to the lengths of what Square will do with the latest entry into their iconic franchise.
Personally, I think it's a Final Fantasy XIII demo launch on December 17 - a Thursday that just so happens to coincide with the Japanese launch of Final Fantasy XIII. What do you think?
