If you remember, we reported that Japan was getting comics with the new PSP firmware update, with North American shores getting the service a bit later on. True to word, Sony has announced that PSP firmware update (v6.20) will be available later tonight, and with it comes the Digital Comics Reader and a new feature that allows you to export your video and photo playlists from your PC to your PSP.
Called PlayStation Network Digital Comics, the service launches in December. This is great for those of us that remember collecting every one of our favorite superhero's comics, and, as a result having a collection that required a small shed to hold. You'll have access to an as yet indeterminate number of comics (rumored to be hundreds) and can view them via the Digital comics Reader, an application released with the firmware update. The Reader will require an additional download and samples are coming soon.
The latest firmware update will also include a new feature that allows you to export your video and photo playlists from your PC to your PSP through Media Go. You’ll have to download the latest Media Go (v1.3) to get some additional new elements. In short, the PSP is fast becoming a mutimedia and gaming giant. This is great as it makes it much easier for those of us young at heart to justify the purchase (especially to our wives!).
