Rockstar/Take-Two just recently won the awards for best handheld game, GTA Chinatown Wars, and best DLC, Stories of Liberty Cities. The story doesn't end there today though. We all know how Rockstar has sold exclusive right to the GTA4 DLC to MS so PS3 fans have yet to see it, but turned around and made a full fledged game for PS3 called Agent. Well it seems that one move or another has caused some issues.
According to their recent reports they have lost a total of $22 million dollars a share in Q4, compared to the $15 million they lost at the same period last year. Granted Boarderlands was the only game to come out this year, while last year saw the release of GTA4. But what about the exclusive DLC? Is it working for them? Who knows...
The total net revenue ending the year was $968.5 million, compared to $1,537.5 million for fiscal 2008. However things are looking bright for the future of Rockstar. They are currently working with Sony on a brand new IP, Agent, and have plans to release a new Spec Ops, Red Dead Redemption, and several others, possibly a new GTA, coming in the coming year or two. That and who knows if that rumored magical day of GTA4 content on PS3 will ever show up. |
