if you've been gaming for any length of time, you may just remember a small title put out by the developer Quantic Dream called Omikron: the Nomad Soul. this, of course, was in 1998. As such the graphics were decidedly not next GEN however the sheer scope of the game and what it tried to do made it worth picking up. As a matter of fact, I still have a copy to this day.

If you remember, the driving point of that game was that although you started out in one main character you could live the life of several different people throughout the game. And, it was one of the first open world style single player games at the time. The city Omikron was huge and to this day I still will pop it in and have a play for a bit once in a while.

Now, after many years and another game named Indigo Prophecy, Quantic Dream is set to release what many consider a blockbuster and literal game changing IP called Heavy Rain.

However, as this is a game that is designed for the more mature players among us there was some speculation that the game would be censored in some ways to appeal to a broader audience across the various regions. And now, Sony has confirmed via the PlayStation blog that Heavy Rain will be released as the developers intended no censoring and all of the mature content intact.

I must say as a 30 year old gamer I am very happy see this. For far too long gaming in the games industry as a whole has been still regarded as something just for kids. And, to hear some of the parent groups argue it, something that is corrupting our children. perhaps with this recent announcement, people will finally realize that gaming is for anyone that wants to do be they young old or in-between. And I for one am very much looking forward to getting Heavy Rain and have pre-ordered.
