The newly announced PS3 'Tourne', a Japanese PS3 accessory that acts as a sort of DVR, will allow you to earn Trophies while simply watching TV. According to the latest issue of Famitsu Weekly, Tourne users will earn trophies using the new device, for example, by watching the last episode of several popular TV series.
While this in and of itself is a pretty interesting concept, you can only wonder if this is perhaps just a taste of what is to come in the future? At CES, Sony announced several of their other multimedia devices will begin supporting the XMB and PlayStation Network. Perhaps trophies will end up heading cross platform too?
Announced earlier this week, Tourne is a USB plug-and-play DVR system that's due to hit Japan later in March for roughly $100. Tourne allows PS3 owners to view, browse, and record live TV, storing the data on either the PS3's HDD or an external one. Tourne also records programs as the player watches Blu Rays, plays games, browses the web, and even while the PS3 is set to standby.
Sony hasn't commented on any plans to release Tourne to other territories. |
