Hitman 5 to be Announced at the VGAs 2010?
Posted on December 10, 2010 by Shak

Hitman, one of the most popular franchises last generation, has not had a single game out on a current generation console. However, it looks like we will be seeing Agent 47 very soon if our suspicions are correct.

Spike TV has been showing a promo for the Video Game Awards 2010 for a few days now, which flashes up on screen the words "Look Closer" as well as a QR Code (a matrix barcode, shown below).

When scanned into an app on your phone, this will take you to the following website (or something similar). http://mm.mtv.com/avTWzR. The screen will simply as you to Look Closer and Murder, which links to another similar teaser called "Murder Your Maker" that will be revealed at the VGAs 2010.

Many sites assumed that this was Prototype 2, but the image on the website, coupled with the way in which the other mobile phone teaser was presented suggests that Hitman 5 is a far more obvious announcement. View the image below (click to enlarge), and we'll explain why.

First of all, the character is bald, with the back of his specifically covered up by shadow. Agent 47, the main character of the Hitman series has a notorious barcode on the back of his head to identify him. Secondly, the teaser asks to Murder Your Maker. Agent 47 is one of a series of clones that were created to be hit-men. Thirdly, the mobile phone teaser is wanting you to scan in a matrix barcode, doesn't it seem a little coincidental that the main character of Hitman has a barcode on the back of his head too?

The rumors will be put to rest tomorrow night, and we're not saying we are right, but it looks like we could be saying a brand new installment of the Hitman franchise announced tomorrow. Here's hoping!
