PlayStation 3 Facebook Integration

This year's MI6 Games Marketing Summit started today, and with all game conferences comes great game news. Well, great? Maybe.

John Koller's presentation during the “Casual to the Core: Redefining the Gaming Dynamic” panel revealed some interesting news regarding the SCEA and everyone's favorite social network, Facebook. During the presentation, Koller was asked by one of the panel moderators, John Davidson, if there would ever be “a point where someone could be playing PS3 and have it spit out something to Facebook.”

Koller replied stating that plans of the sort are already underway, and that such functionality is “critical, not just for marketing but for the types of games we're trying to develop. That day is coming quicker than you may think."

Critical to the types of games they're trying to develop? The only thing that comes to mind is Jetman in Hi-Def with trophies. That aside, this could mean many things, including automatic trophy updates, instant developer news, and leaderboards, all over that book with a face. To be honest I think this would be interesting, but critical? Not so much.
