The feature that will allow the PlayStation 3 to record live television has been floating around the fans for some time now, and with a recent announcement the rumor is coming true. PlayTV will be Sony’s nifty gift in a box that will allow PS3 users to record TV while playing their favorite games.
The feature will be a box that PS3 owners must buy and connect to the console itself to use. The box will then work similar to Tivo where it can record certain episodes or entire series, and the best part is, all this can be done while playing your favorite video game. The recent 2.41 update made this all possible with Sony mentioning how hard it was to be able to play and record at the same time.
The PlayTV box will retail at €99 and the UK will be the first country to get their hands on it with a launch date of September 10. The rest of Europe, Australia, and New Zealand will all be able to get their hands on the nifty box by January. Various prices and further release dates are yet to be announced so stick with PS3Center for further info.
