Ferrari has made the announcement that the highly-respected and stunning car manufacturer would have an official game headed to the Sony PlayStation 3, Sony PlayStation Portable, Nintendo Wii, and Nintendo DS.

System 3 will be developing the game with the official rights to the Ferrari brand being completely exclusive to Sony and Nintendo.

The Sony PlayStation 3 version of the game is being touted as the most realistic racing experience to date on any video game console other than actually getting behind the wheel of a Ferrari.

Real cars, tracks, and the handling of Ferrari cars will all be packed into the game along with multiplayer online play over the PlayStation Network for up to 16 players to race against each other in their lightning-fast Ferrari cars.

For those concerned about the Wii version it will be using the controls of the Wii-remote and will likely include a Wii steering-wheel.  No word yet if it will have the Ferrari brand on the steering wheel itself, which could be very creative.

The CEO of System 3 Mark Cale made an announcement in regards to the game stating that "Video games and racing have been my two passions during the twenty-five years that I’ve been in the business. Finally the two have collided and I’m immensely proud to be bringing the Ferrari Challenge to market this year. We have invested in the best development talent in the industry and I’m confident that the game will be even more impressive than the license."

The first preview build of the highly-anticipated racer will be revealed on June 23rd.  It will be shown in Maranello, which is also the home of Ferrari.

June 23rd will also be the 60th anniversary of the Ferrari.

Katia Bassi, Head of Licensing for Ferrari said, "Mark has been a highly valued customer of Ferrari for over twenty years during which time we have developed a special relationship including System 3 becoming a sponsor of our 60th birthday anniversary road tour and celebrations. We know that the Ferrari Challenge is in good hands as Mark himself is an experienced Challenge series driver, giving him a unique insight into translating the technical aspects of our engineering to the medium of video games".
