Speaking to Famitsu, Capcom has revealed it's sales expectations for Resident Evil 5. The believe, based on the popularity of the demo, which is available for the PS3 and 360 in Japan, that Resident Evil 5 will sell at least 500K copies in Japan at launch. Further, they expect the title to sell 5-6 million copies worldwide during it's lifetime.
To date, no Resident Evil title has sold over 6 million copies. Resident Evil 4 has sold a bit over 5 million copies on the Wii, PS2, and Gamecube. Resident Evil 2 also sold similar numbers. Not only that, but if those numbers were achieved, the game would be ranked as one of the best selling multiplatform titles, up there with Grand Theft Auto IV and Call of Duty 4. Capcom has set some lofty goals for itself, but if any of their franchises can do it, it's Resident Evil
