As we reported yesterday, Pandemic Studios closed it's doors to the world, the latest casualty of the rampant recession.

This was all confirmed via an internal memo that was circulated at EA, and eventually made it into the hands of press.  According to this memo, the studios closure was "to better manage our cost structure", with EA concentrating their internal studios on producing fewer, but higher quality, titles.  One title specifically mentioned to be a part of this new initiative is the new Medal of Honor game, just announced for the first time last week.

According to EA, the new Medal of Honor title will be a re-invention of the franchise, with "a new design that is simply stunning".  Rumors indicate that the new game will be a modern shooter, leaving the series WWII roots. 

If Need fo Speed Shift is any indication of what EA is willing to do to revitalize a franchise, color me interested in this new Medal of Honor title.
