The PS3 has finally been hacked, yes even after we studied the system and showed you why it couldn't be done. Turns out a simple code within a small little usb device makes it possible to turn your PS3 into, basically, a development kit. Within this code is a "backup" utility. A program the creators are stating is only there to "help people keep their games safe." Well we all know what the real motive was behind this, and its not good.
Hackers already ruined the PSP market, releasing their own firmware updates and hacks that allowed people to download games for free onto a memory stick. This obviously drived software sales down, and caused many issues. Well the same isn't going to happen with PS3. Why? Simply because the powerhouse of anti-hackers is still in place on Sony's behalf.
The PS3 has a internet connection rate above 70 percent. What does this mean? I means 7 out of every ten PS3's sold and currently in homes everywhere connect to the internet. Rather it be firmware updates, PSN, or just browsing the web. Well this gives Sony a clear advantage. You update using their firmware, or you can't connect. So obviously Sony will be blocking this device soon with firmware. However we all know "custom firmware" would then be hitting the market, to make your PS3 believe it has updated when it hasn't.
There still are no worries. According to people messing with the code within the little device, the backup utility can (and most likely will be) tracked by Sony via players connecting to PSN. Microsoft was capable of doing the same thing when 360's were hacked as well, leaving them with the opportunity to ban thousands of hackers from Xbox Live. The ban, of course, isn't just your account, its the entire system. Leaving you with no choice but to buy another one or talk with Sony and beg for mercy.
We obviously don't support the hack that came out recently, thus we are not telling you what it is or where to find it. However if you do go searching on your own, be prepared to get a ban hammer slammed on your account when AAA games come out this Fall, or earlier. Can't say we didn't tell you so if/when it happens. |
